Thanks, John. This will be a regular feature on the blog, but I don't think I'm ready to let it take over the site yet. I have other things to say.

I appreciate the comment!

Hah, good story
You should make this into a website that's only about frog news, with just a tiny bit about design tacked on!

Thanks for your comment, Melanie. I haven't done a good job of keeping up the blogs related to my back, but since this entry I've discovered that the problem with my SI joint is bone related, not joint related. My SI joints are weakened by a type of osteoporosis, which is being treated by bone-building drugs like Aredia and Fosamax.

As far as methods for "resetting" the SI joint, you can put your forearm between both of your knees, with one palm against the inside of one knee, and the elbow against the inside of the other knee. Then you press your knees together until the SI joint pops back into place. Another is to do what is called a "Snake Pose" in yoga. Think of a push-up without taking your pelvis off the floor. That helps tilt the pelvis in such a way that the spine pulls the sacrum back into position.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear of your troubles. I also have extensive back/neck troubles and have had for many years. Like you my left SI is stuck and the right hyper-mobile. I would be interested in hearing your technique for unsticking it. My husband gives me a lot of massages but we haven't found a good way to unstick the joint without the addition of valium to fully relax all the spasmed muscles first.

I have also tried extensive prolotherapy which was great but did not address the route cause (as I'm not exactly sure what this is- I suspect now that it is teeth grinding).

Any info you could provide would be great.
Many thanks
Melanie
