The solution to my two year ordeal with sacral pain may be a simple as getting more Vitamin D. Normal levels for Vitamin D are anything greater than 40 nanograms per milliliter of blood up to about 70ng/mL. My levels were as low as 3ng/mL. It’s no wonder my bones are falling apart. Vitamin D is essential to calcium absorption, and therefore essential to healthy, strong bones.
Lucky for me, it’s pretty easy to get more Vitamin D. I need to get more sunlight exposure, because Vitamin D is synthesized in the skin. I can also drink more milk and eat more fatty fish, like sardines.
I love sardines! I’ve been eating sardines since I was a little kid. When other kids were begging for hot dogs and fish sticks, I was asking for okra and sardines.
OK, so I have been weird for a long time. Now you know.
Another way to get more Vitamin D is with supplements, so I’m planning on going out this weekend to look at what kind of supplements are out there and in what doses. In the meantime, I spent a little time outdoors today making my own D, and got to watch birds foraging in the woods in front of my house. It’s the right time of year for me to put my bird feeders back out and fill them. I’m sure there are plenty of migrating birds passing through right now, and the year-round residents can always use a little help.
Oh, it looks like the Sun is coming out. Time to go get some mo’ D.

My doctor just told me that I need to get more vitamin D, too! What’s up with that? I’m doing supplements and they’re working out just fine.
Hope it all goes well for you and that it makes a positive difference…
Take care (and happy holidays!)…

Yeah, I’m taking 5000 IU of D3 a day, with 1200 of calcium. It’s a lot to swallow, literally, but I’m getting used to it.
Happy Holidays!
